Start with seed keywords
The only thing you can do off site to incraese your rankings is build up more links. More links will generally lead to better Google PageRank and better search engine rankings. Take an aspect of your niche that people find difficult and create the most comprehensive tutorial there is on the subject. Limit each paragraph to 2-3 sentences at most. It’s even okay to use one-sentence paragraphs if necessary, but use them sparingly or your post will look like a bullet-pointed blog without the bullets. Spend some time looking at other websites within your niche, sites that perhaps are not performing well enough to claim the top spots in Google, and ask yourself - what are they missing? Why are these sites not ranking in search engines?
Don’t Forget About a Sitemap
The size of your images can have a big impact on your overall site speed (which is an important search ranking factor). If your website is trying to rank quickly for a specific topic, and yet there is not a piece of high-value content that addresses that topic, the probability of showing up in the Google search results is small. Social signals - how many times a piece of content is shared, tweeted and liked - have become a crucial part of the way search engines decide which content is the most useful and should be ranked higher. I highly recommend starting off with building out resources their target audience would care about, want to share on social media, and want to link to.
Avoid duplicate content
While meta descriptions are not strictly a ranking signal, a good meta description can vastly improve click-through rate, so make sure you use it wisely! Overfed with countless advice making things look simple and obvious, webmasters often rely on their intuition, common sense, or gut feelings when it comes to SEO… and they often fail. Check forums, online communities and Q&A sites to find the questions people in your niche are asking. Providing clear answers with actionable points is a sure-fire way of creating content your target audience will love. According to SEO Consultant, Gaz Hall: "Instead of focusing on what you do or what you sell or why you’re awesome, instead focus on why your customers should care."
Provide value information rooted in your initial strategy
Clearly define your objectives in advance so you can truly measure your ROI from any programs you implement. If you look at the big picture, social media opens opportunities that eventually lead to SEO benefits. Search engines like Google can tell the difference between links set up to improve search engine rankings and those that are from trusted, relevant sources. Search volume refers to how many times a particular phrase is searched for. It’s a handy way to gauge how much traffic you’ll receive from a specific query, though you should know that volume tends to fluctuate over time.
